France Didgeridoo

Moddoo is a name for handmade wind instruments, made by me, Žilvinas Gaižauskas born in Vilnius/Lithuania.
Saw is not used to split the wood. It's ment to be as natural as it can be.
The wood pieces are carefully chosen and are mostly found around the city.
The instruments are ment to be of shamanic purpose.


Since I was a child I used to split pieces of wood in two and try to make a pipe. I was astonished when I first saw long and big wind instruments. Still I was just a child. My father being an artist introduced me to famous sculptors Matschinsky-Denninghoff so I became their assistant just like my father. I had done a lot of artworks at their place in Germany, they have taught me a lot about art.
After many years of practicing different art forms I have met a few didgeridoo players in my second travel to Himalayas when I was 24years old. They explained me a bit about them. Since then it was always on my mind to make one. So I have started. And I don't know when I will stop.

very nice indeed, i find the long red one very beatiful .. I'm curious to hear how it sounds. For the description the tuning key could be good to have... But if i understand you correctly, you sale them as kind of singing sculptures... Anyway keep wandering in search of wood

The red one gives a pretty deep maditative sound, as the inner lenght is about 190cm and the inner diameter is increasing gradualy.
I will record the sound and post it. I promise
